Copy Paper is like a sponge. The more porous the paper-and the higher its lint and dust content-the more ink or toner it can consume. What appears to be a savings on the cost of the paper can quickly disappear when the printer has to use significantly more ink or toner to achieve the proper coverage, density, and color.

The “savings” on the paper price can potentially be offset by three times that amount-or more-in additional ink or toner consumption.

With the current Covid-19 situation, hand sanitizer has been at the top of many consumer's and businesses' lists. GOJO®, the company behind the Purell® hand sanitizer brand has been inundated with product requests from industries of all kinds putting demand way ahead of supply. As a result, many new brands of hand sanitizers have hit the market to fill that demand. One common complaint, has been the smell of these new hand sanitizers. An article in the New York Times by Gregory Han outlines the reasons for this. The main takeaway from Mr. Han's article was regarding "activated carbon filtration" which would remove contaminants and the related odor. ​

“That off-putting smell—sometimes described as rotten garbage or tequila-like—is the natural byproduct of ethanol being made from corn, sugar cane, beets, and other organic sources,” explained Zlotnik. “[Ethyl alcohol] production is highly regulated. It stinks because these new brands—many made by distillers who’ve pivoted from producing drinking alcohol to meet public demand for hand sanitizer—are making and using denatured ethanol. This ethanol costs significantly less than ethanol filtered using activated carbon filtration, which would typically remove almost all contaminants and the malodor with it.”
